Children In Need

For many of us, children bring laughter and smiles. But seeing children suffering in great need can bring heartache. Operation Mobilization (OM) puts compassion into action, helping to meet the needs of children in countries around the world.

The past summer I got to see some of that work up close when I visited our street boys program in Sudan, run by an affiliated ministry. That country's years of civil war have left families torn apart and many boys without parents or not knowing where their families are. Many of the boys are on the streets of Khartoum. Our center brings them in off the streets and gives them stable lives, providing education, vocational training and spiritual teaching.

The open-air classrooms and other facilities are modest at best, but to these boys, it's a stable home where they find security, love, hope for the future and relationships with God. In that place, the boys can be more like typical kids with laughter and play. Lives are changed there. I spent time with the boys and left thinking about how just a little love and a little attention can have such a profound effect on these young boys. Instead of growing up and being "the problem", they gown up and are part of "the solution". I am amazed at what God is doing in Sudan, and it starts with showing God's love to "the lest of these". If we thinking about it, it's not all that different from what children all over the world need, even those here in the USA. If we raise them in a Godly way, they will grow up to be Godly adults (Proverbs 22:6)
